The Red Dead Redemption series is a cowboy or western-themed game set in America in the late 1890s to early 1910s. Yep, that era was indeed the heyday of cowboys in America.

Long before the success of Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games first started the Red Dead franchise by releasing Red Dead Revolver in May 2004. The game was originally developed by Angel Studios under Capcom funding. However, in 2002, parent company Rockstar Games acquired Angel Studios and changed its name to Rockstar San Diego. Even though it has simple graphics, Westerado: Double Barreled has a gameplay that is not as simple as the graphics. As they hunt down the killer, players can create new possibilities and stories.
